The Women's Centre — Aims and Services

The aim of the Women's Centre is to empower all women, regardless of their ethnicity, age, class, religion, or sexual orientation, to make informed choices in their lives and to support them in the process.

The Women's Centre offers:

  • A quiet, women-only space where you can drop in for a coffee, chat, information or just time out.
  • Womenline, a call-in line for women in crisis, to talk with a skilled worker.
  • A wide range of resources and information on women-focused community services.
  • Groups and workshops to support women's well-being and help them in the process of making changes.
  • A variety of courses and workshops throughout the year facilitated by qualified tutors.
  • Lesbian resources, groups and workers.
  • A library for women and children.

Accessing the Child in You

Tuesdays Feb 18th - Mar 11th and Apr 8th. 1pm - 3:30pm.

 

Yoga

Thursdays Feb 20th - Mar 20th; daytime: 9:45 -11am; evening: 5:45-7pm

 

Self-Empowerment for Women

Tuesdays Feb 18th to Mar 25th. (call Centre for time).

 

Self-Defence for Women

Mondays Feb 17th to Mar 10th. 10am - 11:30am.

 


Services

Free Legal Consultations

Mondays First and third Monday of each month beginning Feb 3rd. 1-2pm. Phone the Centre for an appointment.

 

Free Counseling

Tuesdays Everyday Tuesday beginning Feb 4, 10am - 3pm. No enrollment required, just come on the day.

 

Asian Women's Drop-in

Fridays Every Friday beginning Feb 7th, noon to 2pm.

 

Women's Community Networking

Last Thursday of each month BYO lunch, noon -1:30pm

 


Groups and Activities

Lesbian Video Evenings

The first Wednesday of every month at 6:45-9pm. Call the Centre for details. Front door is locked sharply at 7pm so make time to find a car park.
Gold coin donation.

 

Guided Visualisation Group

Wednesdays Feb 26th - Mar 26, 10:15am to 11:15am. BYO cushion or pillow.

 

Board Games Afternoon

Thursdays noon - 2pm.
